Taylor County Suffers Two Fatal Traffic Incidents Monday, August 3, 2026
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 1:13 AM, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle crash near N4303 State Hwy 73 in the Township of Aurora, Taylor County. It was reported that there was a subject lying in the roadway.
Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with Taylor County EMS (to include Jump River and Taylor County First Responders), Gilman Fire Department, and Jump River Fire Department personnel. Upon arrival, two injured male occupants were located at the scene. Both occupants were attended to by the responding agencies and transported from the scene for their injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle involved was southbound on State Highway 73 when it left the roadway, entered the west ditch, then re-entered the roadway and rolled before coming to rest in the middle of the highway facing northbound. One occupant of the vehicle, identified as 36-year-old Nathan Burke of Black River Falls, WI, was ejected during the crash. A short time later, Nathan succumbed to injuries sustained from the crash. The other occupant, identified as 45-year-old Bradley Olson of Black River Falls, WI, received medical treatment and was later placed into police custody on drug related charges. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
This incident is still under investigation. No other information will be released at this time.

Also on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 3:12 AM, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a multiple vehicle crash on County Road O near the intersection with Oak Drive in the Township of Holway, Taylor County. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a house that was being moved down the roadway and two people were injured.
Taylor County Deputies, Taylor County EMS (to include Stetsonville and Taylor County First Responders), and Stetsonville Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a tractor was moving a house westbound on County Road O near the intersection with Oak Drive when an eastbound vehicle struck a corner of the house, continued underneath it, and then emerged before striking a pickup truck head on which was following behind the house.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle, 19-year-old Dylan Mickelson of Abbotsford, WI, died of his injuries at the scene; the passenger, 20-year- old Autumn Armatoski of Phillips, WI, was transported for medical treatment.
The operator of the tractor pulling the house was identified as: Jason Nelson of Thorp, WI. Jason was not injured.
The operator of the pickup truck that was struck was identified as: Dominick Sykora of Thorp, WI. Dominick was not injured.
Investigation of this crash is ongoing with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol. No further details will be released at this time.
