
Lanny Robert Peissig, 83, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at his home while under the care of Hope Hospice.
Lanny was born on September 21, 1942, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Alfred and Ruth (Holliday) Peissig. When Lanny was young, his family moved to Rib Lake, where he attended Rib Lake Schools.
On June 20, 1964, Lanny married Sharon Kautzer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey. They lived in Milwaukee for a short time, where Lanny worked at Briggs & Stratton before returning to the Medford area. He worked at Weather Shield for some years and then worked at Tombstone for 30 years, retiring in 2003.
Lanny enjoyed woodworking, especially enjoyed building furniture and other treasured pieces for friends and family. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends and cherished the many road trips he and Sharon took together exploring different states. He was also a life-time member of FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation), a national church-state separation organization.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Todd Peissig of Medford, Tami (Jamie) Henrichs, all of Medford; two grandchildren, Mason (Sierra) Henrichs and McKenna Henrichs; sisters-in-law Jan Roesler and Arlene Mantsch; brother-in-law Dean Kautzer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Jasurda; brother, Ronnie Peissig, brothers-in-law, Joe Jasurda, Jule Roesler, Wayne (Rusty) Kautzer and Dennis Kautzer, sisters-in-law, Toni Peissig, Helen Kautzer, June Kautzer and Audrey Kautzer.
