James "Jazz" M. Jaslowski

 

James “Jazz” M. Jaslowski, 75, a longtime Medford area resident, died on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, where he had been a patient for the past 2 days. For the last 2 ½ years, he has resided at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford.

Memorial services for Jim will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. Father Patrick O’Connell will officiate and military rites will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church that same day from 12 noon until the time of services at 1 PM.

James “Jim” was born April 24, 1944 at Medford, the son of Michael J. & Gertrude H. (Totzke) Jaslowski. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School and was a 1963 graduate of Medford High School. Jim was previously married and later divorced.

After his education, he worked for Richard Williams Construction, Weather Shield Mfg. and Tombstone Pizza Corp. until ill health forced his retirement in 1999. He retired from the Wisconsin National Guard after 21 years of service in 1991. Jim loved hunting and fishing, made thousands of fishing jig’s and fly’s and sold them as Jazz’s Jigs. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford and the Medford American Legion.

Survivors include his siblings, Barbara (Marvin) Egle of Ladysmith, Julee Roudebush of Algonquin, IL, and Daniel of Medford. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jim Roudebush.

Gerald "Jerry" S. Hoffman, Sr

 

Gerald “Jerry” S. Hoffman, Sr., 81 of Athens, died on Sunday, November 17 at his residence in the Township of Johnson, Marathon County. Per his request, there will be no public services. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield at a later date.

Jerry was born January 29, 1938, in Livingston County, Michigan, the son of George & Mildred (Jones) Hoffman. He attended Fenton, Michigan Elementary schools and was a graduate of Fenton High School. His marriage to Onalee K. Hill took place on June 16, 1956 also at Fenton, MI.

After marriage, they farmed in Michigan until moving to Unity, WI to farm in 1975. In 1988 they moved to Milan and farmed there until retirement. He also bred/traded horses, mules and bought/sold farm equipment over the years. He also served on the Brighton Town Board, Marathon County Fair & County Boards for periods of time. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with family and friends.

Surviving Jerry are his wife Onalee of Athens, children – Howard (Debra) Hoffman of Marshfield, Sarah (Randy) Gregory of Spencer, Lynn (Richard) Hamland of Medford, Gerald “Jay” (Linda) Hoffman, Jr. of New London and Richard (Denise) Hoffman of West Allis. He is also survived by a son-in-law: Kurt von Besser of Hewitt, 26 grandchildren & 33 great-grandchildren. His brothers, Garry Hoffman of Florida, Glenn (Louise) Hoffman of Florida & Greg (Lois) Hoffman of Chippewa Falls. Along with a brother-in-law: Roger Bass of South Carolina.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Gerriann von Besser in 2009, a sister, Louetta Bass & a brother George Hoffman, Jr.

Harvey B. Halverson

 

Harvey B. Halverson, 83, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at The Homeplace of Dorchester, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice.

 

Harvey was born on May 17, 1936 to Morris and Ruth (Smital) Halverson in the Township of Holway. He graduated from Medford High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1955 – 1957. He married Geraldine “Gerry” R. Paul on August 15, 1959; she preceded him in death on April 9, 2018.

 

Harvey work for Schmidt’s Clothing, Paul Brother Landscaping in Portland, OR. He farmed with his brother Richard on the family farm. He then went to work for Hurd Millwork. In retirement he worked maintenance for the Centennial Apartments in Medford.

 

In his spare time he enjoyed yard work, traveling, helping neighbors, volunteering at church, listening to polka music, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and taking care of Gerry. He had a great sense of humor and loved making everyone around him laugh. He was a very active member of the church and it’s cemetery association.

 

Harvery is survived by his children, Julie (Mark) Hoffman of Mukwonago, Donna (Vince) Hawley of Scottsdale, AZ, David (Leslie) Halverson of Medford, Paula (Tim) Stroinski of Medford, and Kristin (Dean) Remer of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Mariah, Maya, and Noah; great-grandchild, Josslyn; siblings, Richard and Carol (Dave) Bovee. He is further survived by many other family and friends.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his sister Marjean.

 

A Memorial Service for Harvey will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Holway, with Pastor Amy Heinz officiating. Burial will follow at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Harvey will take place at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

 

Memorial donations in Harvey’s name may be given to either Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or Hope Hospice.

Myron J. Budzinski

 

Myron J. Budzinski, age 62, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Marshfield Medical Center.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford.  Father Tim Oudenhoven will officiate. A visitation for family and friends on Friday, November 15 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

 

Myron was born on January 19, 1957, the son of Albert and Agnes (Wierzba) Budzinski in Custer.  He graduated from Rosholt High School.  Myron was an over-the-road truck driver, driving for TFE-Toro, Kraft-Pizza Division out of Medford and Abbyland Trucking of Abbotsford.

 

Myron was united in marriage to Kathleen Seibel on June 21, 1997, in Bloomer.  He enjoyed deer hunting, bow fishing, pan fishing, throwing darts, watching sports, particularly the Brewers, Badgers and Packers.  Myron loved driving and being independent, hanging with friends at the Corral and Bad Habits, drinking coffee, sharing his colorful language and unique sense of humor, visiting relatives at area campgrounds, and visiting dogs at area humane shelters.  Most importantly, he cherished his family.

 

Myron is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two children: Adam Budzinski of Green Bay and Erika Budzinski of Abbotsford; his mother, Agnes Steffanus of Stevens Point; and a brother, Thomas Budzinski of Custer.  He is further survived by four sisters-in-law: Joan (Thomas W.) Schwartz of Chippewa Falls, Donna (Rodger) Falkenberg of Bloomer, Lois (John) Petska of Bloomer and Janet (Jim) Michaud of Chippewa Falls; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; his step-father, Wilfred Steffanus; a brother, David; a brother-in-law, Paul Seibel; a sister-in-law, Heidi Budzinski; paternal grandparents:  Wallace and Anna Budzinski; maternal grandparents: Joseph Sr. and Cecelia Wierzba; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bertram and Jeanette Seibel, and his beloved dog, Kobi.
