Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Investigating “Legitimacy” of Shooting Phone Call Sept 14
On Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:05 a.m. the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous phone call from a male individual who stated he had just “shot a black man” and was still in the car with him. The caller further stated that he was in possession of a 9mm Glock that he took off the man he had just shot, He also claimed there is 50,000 to 70,000 dollars of cash in the car. The caller had a Hispanic accent however that accent wasn’t always consistent while talking with our dispatcher. The caller further was very vague on his location and would not provide his name or phone number.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office attempted to find methods to trace the call location and number but was unsuccessful. Taylor County deputies were dispatched to search areas that were similar to what the caller described and were unable to locate the caller or possible victim. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were also notified and were unsuccessful in locating the suspect vehicle or caller.
The caller’s last information to Taylor County dispatch was that he was still in the vehicle that the shooting took place in. He further stated the vehicle was black in color and was parked on the side of the road. It is unknown at this time if this call is valid or somebody making a false report to law enforcement.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this incident and currently has not been able to determine its legitimacy. If you do see a black vehicle parked on the side of the road you feel is suspicious do not approach. This individual if true is considered armed and potentially dangerous, please contact your local law enforcement agency to report it.
