Westboro Man Dies in Vehicle Accident  Wednesday, October 25, 2023

At 10:37 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle off the roadway at the intersection of County Rd D and Hamilton Dr. in the Town of Jump River. It was further reported that the vehicle had crashed, and an unresponsive person was laying on the ground. Emergency services were dispatched including Taylor County deputies.

Upon arrival of emergency services, it was determined the person found lying at the scene was deceased. Taylor County deputies investigating the cause of the vehicle accident determined the person laying at the scene had been the driver and was identified as 81-year-old Allen C. Eldred of Westboro Wi.  

Eldred had been driving west bound on County Rd D and crossed over the center line and drove into the south ditch. Eldred’s vehicle then became airborne and entered a wooded area west of the intersection. The vehicle came to rest right side up with extensive damage. Eldred did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash and had succumb to his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
