County Board Approves 2021 Budget 10/28/20
The Taylor County board passed the 2021 budget with a minimal increase.
Budget Committee Chairman Charles Zenner indicated that county agencies were told to decrease their budgets by 2% and that indeed many of them made that goal. When you total it all up, the tax rate increased by 4 cents from $8.14 to 8.18. According to Accountant Larry Brandl the county levy will be $12,287,430.
The committee recommended to budget $1,225,000 of anticipated county sales tax revenue to reduce the 2021 annual budget. To break it down, the tax rate for county expenditures will increase by $4.00 on property with a $100,000 equalized value. Mr. Brandl indicated that Taylor County put an emphasis on holding the line during these extraordinary times.
