Marion Krueger

  Marion Krueger, age 91, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Waterford in Colby. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Interment to follow at Colby Memorial Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and also on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. 

  Marion was born on June 2, 1927, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Lube) Gosse in the Town of Colby.  She attended Cloverdale School and graduated from Colby High School in 1945.  Marion was united in marriage to Alvin Krueger on September 6, 1947.  He preceded her in death on April 16, 2007.  Together they operated a farm in the Town of Colby and moved into Colby in 1976.  

  Marion taught Sunday  School, Vacation Bible School and attended Bible classes.  She liked to do various crafts and sewing and made quilts and lap robes for charity.

  Marion is survived by her son, Charles (Scheree) Krueger of Sun Prairie; three grandchildren: Nikalas (Amanda) Krueger, Daccia (Ian) Gerry and Laura Thompson and four great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by her sister, Harriet Laabs of Colby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; her brothers, Melvin and Herman Gosse and her sisters: Anita Schuh, Viola Ewert, and Dorothy Rodriguez and her great-grandson, Alvin Gerry.

Rosemary (Kress) Wojcik

  We have been informed of the the death of 87 year old Rosemary (Kress) Wojcik, who passed away from Alzheimer's Disease.

  Rosemary was born on December 19th, 1930, the first child of Joseph and Minnie Kress in Medford, Wisconsin.  Her siblings include Eileen Westcott, Conrad Kress, Liz Emmerich, Mavis Wood and Judy Paul.

  Rosemary married Vincent Wojcik in 1949.  They developed a plumbing and heating business that is now in its third generation.  They had five children, Jim, Joe, Mark, Mary and Julie.

  Rosemary attended Holy Rosry Grade School and Medford High School.  She played clarinet in the city band and served on the city council.  She also served on the Medford Board of Education.  

  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M.  A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. and a community luncheon will be held in the Holy Rosary School Cafeteria afterwards.

Irene Mae Onsager

 

  Irene May Onsager, 92, of Stetsonville, passed away at her home on December 10, 2018.

  She was born on August 14, 1926 in Jump River, to Bennie and Blanche (Miller) Anderson. She was a graduate of Medford High School.

  She married Norman M. Onsager on January 29, 1945, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1988.

  During her life she enjoyed raising her kids (for the most part), spending time with her husband, gardening, and doing needle work.

  She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kayon) Onsager of Tacoma, WA, Bonnie Halopka of Dorchester, Carol (Paul) Jorgenson of Eagan, MN, Michael (Evelyn) Onsager of Wisconsin Rapids, Clifton (Kathy) Onsager of Louisville, KY, Melvin (Kathy) Onsager of Medford, and Pamela (Joseph) Vopravil of Hartford; sisters, Alice Miller of Tampa, FL, Evelyn Dumke of Woodstock, GA, and Lillian Mahoney of Willis, TX. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 13 step-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

  In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her 4 children, Alvin, Norris, Sue, and Patricia, 2 brothers Art, and Carl, and 2 sisters Pauline and Edith.

 

 A memorial service for Irene will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Russow officiating; burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery I. Visitation will take place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Irene’s name may be given to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care.

Pearl E. Erdman

  Pearl E. Erdman, age 84, of Colby, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home. 

  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Green Grove.  Rev. Donald Bruce will officiate.  Interment to follow at the church cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.  

 Pearl was born on February 21, 1934, the daughter of Oscar and Elnora (Glenzer) Erdman on the farm west of Colby.  She attended Sandhill Grade School in rural Colby and graduated from Colby High School in 1952.  She worked at Sentinel TV in Evanston, IL from 1952-55.  Pearl then worked at Wausau Motor Parts in Schofield from 1955 until her retiring in 1997.  

  Pearl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She was financial secretary at the church for 18 years.  Pearl taught Sunday School and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

  Pearl is survived by her brother, Galen (Shirley Erikson) Erdman of Curtiss; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Degenhardt.

Emily M. Makovec

 

  Emily M. Makovec, age 93, of Green Grove, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.

  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church in Owen.  The Rev. Tony Ring will officiate.  Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.  

  Emily was born on December 19, 1924, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Miller) Jagodzinski in the Township of Green Grove.  She graduated from Owen High School.  On September 23, 1944, Emily was united in marriage to Joseph Makovec in Owen.  He preceded her in death in 1986.  

  Emily and her husband, Joe, farmed in the Township of Green Grove for over 40 years, but her true calling was a caregiver.  She obtained her CNA certificate later in life.  Emily was employed at the Colonial Center in Colby and subsequently at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.  Family, neighbors and friends called upon Emily as they knew she would be willing to offer care when they needed it-expecting nothing in return.

  Emily was musically gifted playing many instruments by ear.  She loved to sing, especially harmonizing with her two sisters as the Jag-a-Longs, singing at church events near their home in Atwood.  Emily loved to write poems about her humble beginnings, even winning a first place certificate when she entered her poem entitled "The Farm" in a publisher's contest.

  Emily loved to travel and visited places in England, Germany, Belgium and Indonesia.  She was a competitive athlete and loved to play softball and golf.  Emily resided at The Waterford in Colby since August of 2017 and was proud to be one of the Hotshots on their bean bag team known as "The Waterford Hotshots".

  Emily is survived by her six children: Joan (Jim) Carlsen of Chippewa Falls, Barb Gruetzmacher of Owen, Marilyn (Kim) Frederickson of Owen, Lori Woldt (Bob Swoboda) of Wausau, Joe (Jody) Makovec of Stanley and John (Mary) Makovec of Iola; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by her brother, Arnie Jagodzinski (Emerita Phillips) of Green Grove; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; her daughter, Janet in 1970; six siblings: Don, Marge, Lillian, Ruthie, infant brothers, James and Paul.

  A special thanks goes out to her brother, Arnie, for his ongoing support; Rev. Tony Ring of St. Katherine's Episcopal Church for supporting her spiritually; the Waterford of Colby with special thanks to Becky, the Hotshot coach and activity director and in her final journey, the House of the Dove in Marshfield.

  In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest memorials be directed to St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, 200 E. 3rd St, Owen, WI  54460.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After her education, she worked at Farmers State Bank in Stetsonville. Then she was a bookkeeper for Co-op Transport in Stetsonville. Then she worked as director of membership services for the United States Curling Association office in Stevens Point until her retirement. They moved to Stevens Point in September of 2005. She was active with her husband in the WI Lions Foundation. She served as Medford and Stevens Point boys and girls high school curling coach for a period of years, winning numerous state titles. Was active in State & National woman’s curling both as a participant and in governing. Was active in State & National Jr. Curling and was part of the US Jr. teams that participated in 13 World Jr. Championships as either a team leader or coach. In 1999, she received the National Coach of the Year award, selected by the National Woman’s Sports Foundation. She closed her coaching career as the head coach of the High Performance Jr. Woman’s team and led them to back-to-back National Championships. Her true passion was her affiliation with Jr. Curling & helping young curlers develop both as athletes and adults. As much as she accomplished in curling, her proudest legacy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, art, music, all sporting events, golf, tennis and snowmobiling and most of all, being with her family.

MEMBER OF: Divine Word Ev. Lutheran Church, Plover; Lifetime member of the Medford Curling Club; Past president of Medford Curling Club and its Ladies Lockets; Past member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford and its church choir.

Janet I. Heisler

 

  Janet Irene Heisler, 75, of Medford, passed away Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Aspirus Rehab Care in Medford.
 

  A memorial service for Janet will be take place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Stetsonville on Monday December 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Richard Russow officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, December 10th, 2018 from 12:00  PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.

 

  Janet was born on August 29, 1943 and was adopted by Adolf and Eleanora (Berner) Hoffmann.  On June 16, 1973, Janet married Clarence Heisler at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and was later divorced. Janet was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Janet’s faith has always been an important aspect in her life. Janet served in the choir, as a soloist, and sang in duets with her daughter. Janet had a passion for music, she loved listening to Elvis, specifically his gospels.

 

  Janet adored her family, especially her grandchildren, Alexus and Michael, and was an avid animal lover.

 

  Janet is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Jamie) Dohrwardt of Medford; grandchildren Alexus (Dustin Kayhart) and Michael (Gabby Kummer) Dohrwardt of Medford; brother Warren Hoffmann of Medford and several cousins.

 

  She is preceded in death by her parents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial donations in Janet’s name may be given to the Sunday School Department of Zion Lutheran Church.

After her 1st marriage, she worked for an airplane manufacturer in California. They returned to the Town of Taft where they farmed and she worked full time as a housewife & mother. Moved to Medford in 1956 where she later worked for Memorial Hospital in the laundry department for 12 years until her retirement. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, birds, flowers and gardening.

Mildred I. Schlosser

 

  Mildred Irene Schlosser, 101, of Rib Lake, passed away Sunday December 2, 2018 at Rib Lake Health Services, where she had resided for the last 5 years.
  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday December 7, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mildred’s Grandsons: David Schlosser, Steve Schlosser and Craig Schlosser, Great Granddaughter Anna Klemann, Great Grandson Daniel Schlosser, and Grandson in Law David Miess. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of mass at Good Shepherd Church.
  Mildred was born on March 23, 1917 to Andrew and Alma Johnson. She was the ninth child of ten siblings. She attended Sunnyside School in the Ogema area and dreamed of one day becoming a teacher. Mildred married Raymond W. Schlosser on April 27, 1936. The couple settled in the Town of Rib Lake, and lived there for 70 plus years. Two sons were born Ray Jr. and Russell. Mildred was a homemaker, a master pie baker, gardener, wife, mother and good friend to all who knew her.
  Ray and Mildred were married for 63 years. The couple loved to dance! Mildred enjoyed trips to casinos, garage sales, visits from relatives and friends. She enjoyed card games with neighbor Pauline, Chinese restaurants and shopping for pretty clothes. She enjoyed her Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren, even two Great Great Grandchildren the most. She always made sure they had enough well-wrapped gifts under the tree at Christmas time.

  Mildred will be dearly missed by her Son Raymond Jr. (Mary Ann) Schlosser of Rib Lake, Daughter in Law Nancy Schlosser of Plover, her five Grandchildren, nine Great Grandchildren, and two Great Great Grandchildren, also special nieces Kathleen Rindt, Catherine Siemeck and Sharon Neumann.
  Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond Sr., her son Russell, her Parents Andrew and Alma, and Siblings Lillian, Elmer, Ruth, Walter, Bert, Alice, Arthur, Minnie and Virginia.
  She was of the Catholic faith, and a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
