AGE: 80

ADDRESS: W1575 Adams Road, Brantwood; Town of Spirit Resident

PLACE, DATE & TIME OF DEATH: 11:00 A.M. Sunday, July 28 at the Golden Living Center-Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk where he had resided for the past 3 ½ years and under the care of Aseracare Hospice.

TIME & PLACE OF SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 1 at the Spirit Methodist Church, Spirit

OFFICIATING: Rev. Deborah Hastings

INTERMENT: Spirit Hillcrest, Spirit where full military honors will be performed by the Spirit American Legion Post #452

VISITATION: 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 1 at the Spirit Methodist Church, Spirit

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: April 29, 1933 in Spirit

EDUCATION: Attended Spirit Center Grade School and received his GED while serving in the U.S. Army

MARRIAGE: August 17, 1957 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Brantwood to Diane R. Larson

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: He served in the U.S. Army; during the Korean Conflict 1954-1955. After working a short time at Owens, Illinois and doing building construction, Carl started dairy farming on his father’s homestead. They then later purchased his Mother’s Homestead and moved the operation to his uncle’s barn for over 40 years until his retirement in 1999. During this time Carl also cut pulpwood.
He loved nature and working outdoors. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, watching the Packers, his good sense of humor and being a family man, especially spending time with his grandchildren.

SURVIVING SPOUSE: Diane R. Nelson of Spirit

SURVIVING CHILDREN: 2 Sons: Randy and Michael (Angela) both of Spirit.
2 Daughters: Terri (Bruce) Roberts of Tomahawk and Lori (Larry) Wiitala of Ogema

3 GRANDCHILDREN: Brooklyn, Lindsey and Niklas

Also survived by Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and Friends

DECEASED FATHER: Albin Nelson

DECEASED MOTHER: Ruth C. Nelson (Maiden Name: Ahl)

PALLBEARERS: Michael Nelson, Bruce Roberts, Larry Wiitala, Bruce and Dennis Bebault and Raymond Borg

OTHER INFORMATION: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Carl’s family to be designated at a later date.
