PLACE, DATE & TIME OF DEATH:  12:55 AM Tuesday, April 9 at Memorial Health Center, Medford where he had been a patient for the past 4 days

TIME & PLACE OF SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake where there will also be military rites performed by the Rib Lake American Legion Post #274   

OFFICIATING:  Rev. James Heffner

INTERMENT:     Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake at a later date

VISITATION:  9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, April 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: February 19, 1926 at Rib Lake, WI

EDUCATION: Fawn Valley elementary school, Rib Lake and attended Rib Lake High School

MARRIAGE: August 18, 1962 at Milwaukee to Marlene Milde and she survives

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education he entered the US Navy and was a veteran of WW II.  After the service he worked in Iowa for a period of time.  Then he worked at Allen Bradley Co. in Milwaukee for 18 years.  In 1971 they moved to Rib Lake where he farmed for a short time in the Town of Rib Lake, drove truck for Tlusty Beverage Co. in Rib Lake, and drove school bus.  He worked at Weather Shield in Medford for 18 years until retirement.  He enjoyed gardening & playing cribbage. 

MEMBER OF:  St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake; American Legion post #274, Rib Lake; Past member of Friday Bowling League at Little Bohemia Lanes & Zondlo’s dartball league

SURVIVING SPOUSE:  Marlene Gerstberger of Rib Lake

SURVIVING CHILDREN:  Daughter – Nancy (Rick) Dohrwardt of Rib Lake; Son – Ronald (Kris) Gerstberger of Rib Lake; Grandchildren – Michael & Taran Dohrwardt, Ryne & Nicholas Gerstberger all of Rib Lake

SURVIVING BROTHERS/SISTERS: Brother – Elmer (Elsie) Gerstberger of Rib Lake; Sisters – Emma Zimbo of Rib Lake & Betty Quednow of Rib Lake


BROTHERS/SISTERS DECEASED: Brothers – “Sonny” & Otto Gerstberger; Sisters – Esther Kluckman, Alice Zimbo, Edna Rezutek, Marcella Daubert and 2 in infancy

DECEASED FATHER:  Ernst Gerstberger     DECEASED MOTHER:  Gertrude Thone

OTHER INFORMATION:  Further survived by many nieces and nephews
