PLACE, DATE & TIME OF DEATH: 10:20 P.M. Saturday. February 23 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past 5 years.

TIME & PLACE OF SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 1 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford where full military honors will be performed by the Medford Area Honors Team

OFFICIATING: Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin

INTERMENT: Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 28 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford where there will be a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service and also from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Friday, March 1 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: October 6, 1926 in Hewitt, Wood County

EDUCATION: Attended Auburndale Area Schools

MARRIAGE: November 14, 1945 in Marshfield to Viola M. Smazal and she preceded him in death on March 15, 1998.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Walt served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1945-1946. Walt and Viola lived in Loyal prior to moving to Unity. In 1966, they moved to Medford where Walt worked as a mechanic at Medford Motors until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and polka dancing.

SURVIVING CHILDREN: Daughter: Debbie (Sam) Haley of Wausau
2 Sons: Randy (Sue) Hartl of Dorchester and Barry (Kelly) Hartl of Stetsonville

GRANDCHILDREN: Christopher (Larissa) Hartl of Medford, Tracy (Rick) Dowden of Medford, Holly (Rod) Metz of Medford, Tanya Hartl of Rib Lake, Ryan and Kayla Hartl both of Stetsonville
2 Step-Grandchildren: Heather (Ryan) Mravik of Medford and Jesse (Erin) Clausnitzer of Curtiss

GR-GRANDCHILDREN: Makayla, Kylie, Justice, Peyton, Easton, Ty, Bayley, Courtney, Trey, Cole, Kade, Tasia and Aubree

SURVIVING BROTHERS/SISTER: Margie (Wayne) Shultz of Spencer, Roy and Bob (Nancy) Hartl both of Marshfield

BROTHERS DECEASED: Edward, William, Norbert and Louis Jr. Hartl
