  Edward F. Kowalczyk, 97 of Gilman, died at home on

Thursday, October 19, 2017 under the care of Hope
Hospice. He was born on November 2, 1919 in Lublin, WI
the son of the late Albert and Agnes (Krezel) Kowalczyk.
He grew up in the area and went into the Army during
WWII. There he served his country during the Normandy
invasion and served for a time in post war Germany.
  On June 13, 1942 Ed married Stella Marucha in Chicago.
The couple moved to the Gilman area and bought a farm
in the town of Aurora in 1949. Ed was a member of the
Gilman Knights of Columbus, the Gilman American Legion
and a faithful member of Saints Peter & Paul.
  He is survived by his children, Joseph (Catherine)
Kowalczyk of Rolling Meadows, IL, Eugene (Jeanie)
Kowalczyk of White Bear Lake, MN,  Edith Raether of
Deerfield, Daniel (Susan) Kowalczyk of Gilman and Jenny
(Bill) Mengel of Stevens Point, 14 grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren with 2 on the way, his brother, Casey
(Dolores) Kowalczyk of Illinois, his sister, Adeline “Pat”
Liszewski of Gilman and two sisters in law, Evelyn
Kowalczyk of Gilman and Stella Kowalczyk of Illinois. Ed is
preceded in death by his parents, wife, Stella in 2008, son,
Stanley, a granddaughter, four brothers, Walter, Leonard,
Robert and Allan and two sisters, Mary Leshuk and
Victoria Kaparske.
  A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Monday, October
23, 2017 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church-Gilman
with Father Madanu Lourdu Raju officiating. Burial will
follow in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday
from 1-4 PM with a 4 PM Rosary at the Gilman funeral
home and Monday one hour prior to services at the
Church.
