  George E. Filipiak, 58 of Gilman, died peacefully at his home under

the care of Hope Hospice on Sunday, October 15, 2017, following a
year and a half battle with cancer. George was loved by so many – the
world has lost a wonderful man.
  He was born on July 21, 1959 at Victory Memorial Hospital-Stanley the
son of Ernest and Florine (Erdman) Filipiak. George grew up in the
Jump River and Gilman area and graduated from Gilman High in 1977.
  He was in the Operation Engineers Union #139 for many years; he
also worked Shawano Transport, Payne and Dolan-Waukesha, and
most recently Mathy Company-Onalaska. George was an active
member of the Jump River Runner Snowmobile Club.
  George loved solving the world’s problems with his friends, the
outdoors, tinkering in his yard, but most of all spending time with his
boys, Lucas and Trevor.
  George is survived by his mother, Florine Filipiak of Gilman, his sons,
Lucas and Trevor Filipiak of Thorp, his special friend Jackie, and life-
long friend and mother of his sons, Jennifer Maier, his siblings, Lori
Robinson of Stanley, Nora (Patrick) Wood of Eau Claire, Robert
Filipiak of Westboro, Tom (Natalie) Filipiak and Jerry Filipiak both of
Orlando, FL and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded
in death by his father: Ernest.
  Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at
the Jump River Community Center with Pastor Brian Welsh  from
Trinity Christian Fellowship- Stanley officiating. Visitation will be from 1:
00 pm until time of service Saturday at the Community Center. The
family invites you to a luncheon directly after service. Inurnment will
take place at a later date at Mount Nebo Cemetery. 
Plombon Funeral Service-Gilman assisted the family with
arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, George’s family is requesting donations be made to
the American Cancer Society in his memory.
