Delores E. Higgins, age 85, of Medford, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014, at her home with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Father Gerard Willger will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of services on Thursday at the church.


Delores was born July 29, 1929 in the Marathon City, the daughter of Peter and Agnes (Lemmer) Fischer. She attended Medford High School and was united in marriage to Glenn Higgins on May 8, 1947 in Waukesha, WI. They returned to Medford and farmed in the Town of Molitor until their retirement. Glenn preceded her in death on February 17, 2014.


Delores loved fishing, gardening, flowers, gambling, playing cards, shaking dice, dancing and watching the birds. She especially loved and enjoyed her family.


Delores is survived by her children; Constance (Wayne) Wagner of Withee, Dan (Kathy) Higgins of Medford, Darrell (Val)Higgins of Medford, Bruce (Pam) Higgins of Medford, Kathy (Dale Euclid) Higgins of Medford, Robin (Paul) Schmidt of Medford, Julie (Mark) Tyznik of Colby, Marty Higgins (Tanya) of Medford and Steve Fischer and family of Medford, 33 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three sisters: Angeline Patton of Medford, Elaine Piller of Medford and Mary Ann (Lloyd) Kearly of Markison; a brother, David Fischer of San Antonio, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Marvin and sister, Alice Fischer; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Gengler, Caroline Butler and Marie Nelson; brothers-in-law, Eugene Gengler, Wilfred Butler, Conrad Nelson, Matthew Gengler, Calvin Hein, Rick Patton and Harold Piller.


The Higgins family would like to thank her sister, Angeline Patton and Hope Hospice for their support and compassion in taking care of their mother.
