Leon Barber, Jr, age 77, of Curtiss, passed away at home on Friday, August 15, 2014, with his family by his side.

Leon was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, on September 8, 1936, to Leon and Phyllis (Brockway) Barber, Sr.  A special memory of his school years was attending a one room school house at the age of six.  He later was a student at Argyle Central school where he met Rhoda Archard.  They were united in marriage on October 6, 1957 in Fort Miller, New York.  They ran a family farm in up state New York, then moved to Wisconsin in 1980.  Leon was a jack-of-all-trades. Besides farming, he worked in manufacturing, construction and for the highway department.  He had been the head herdsman for a century farm and was the first recycling director for the township of Holway.

His interests were farm animals, classic tractors ( his favorite was his 1958 Ford 641 Workmaster), radio programs, woodworking and reading.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Rhoda Barber of Curtiss, WI; his four children: Bret Barber of Spencer WI; Nancy (Anthony) Sari of Spencer, WI; Bruce Barber of Hereford, AZ; and Christine Barber of Curtiss WI;  five siblings: James Barber of Argyle, NY; JoAnn (Gerald) Whitney of Granville, NY; Cathy (Robert) Chapman of Hartford, NY; David (Beth) Barber and Bradley (Susan) Barber both of Fort Edward, NY; his grandchildren: Elizabeth (Aaron) Miller of Spencer, WI; Rebecca (Benjamin) Hoffman of Oshkosh, WI; Redmond and Tallulah McKimmy of Burlington, WI; Anna, Anthony, Leah, Joseph and David Sari of Spencer, WI; and great-grandsons: Michael and Joshua Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Carol Barber and a sister-in-law Elizabeth "Betty" Barber.

A graveside funeral service for Leon's immediate family will be held in St. Mary's Cemetary in the township of Holway.  A Memorial Tribute to Leon will be held at a future date.
