Juveniles Arrested Following Shooting Spree

Sheriff’s officers from Clark, Taylor and Marathon Counties were scrambling to find a pair of male juveniles last night after vehicles, and weapons were allegedly stolen.  Shortly after 5 o’clock last night a vehicle was reported stolen northeast of Abbotsford.

According to Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks, at about 6:13 PM, a homeowner in the village of Unity heard a “loud thump” in her food pantry.  She soon determined the holes she observed in her wall and doors were caused by a bullet.  Deputies responded and pursued the suspect vehicle.  During the pursuit in Clark County, multiple shots were fired from the suspect vehicle with one round striking the Colby Abbotsford officer’s squad car, causing minor injuries to the Colby Abbotsford officer.  Marathon County’s initial investigation into the Unity home shooting, leads officers to believe the suspects targeted the Village of Unity residence.

According to Taylor County Sheriff Bruce Daniels, at 7 PM Taylor County Officers were notified that a vehicle pursuit was in progress from Clark County heading into Taylor County.  It was reported that officers in pursuit had been fired upon.  The vehicle eluded officers just after entering Taylor County.  The original stolen vehicle was found abandoned on 7th Avenue in Lublin.  The suspects then stole a second vehicle from the area.

During the height of the search, Clark County Chief Deputy Jim Backus said that S.W.A.T. teams from Eau Claire, Marathon, Clark and Taylor Counties were involved in the search for the two juveniles who were considered “armed & dangerous”.  The State Patrol provided aid in the search with air support.

Just before 11 PM the Green Bay Police Department was notified by Taylor County that the two suspects may be traveling to the Green Bay area.  Green Bay officers located a vehicle near an address that was associated with one of the subjects.  Green Bay officers arrested the 2 male juveniles near the 200 block of South Chestnut Street, and recovered 2 firearms and the stolen vehicle believed to be associated with the incident.   The two male suspects are reported to be age 13 and 15.

Taylor County Sheriff Bruce Daniels indicated one of the juveniles is from Taylor County.

Because the alleged violations occurred in Taylor, Clark, and Marathon Counties, those jurisdictions will be requesting any charges against the suspects.
